Accessibility within the Township

The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand is working on becoming fully accessible by 2025. The Township is dedicated to removing existing barriers and preventing new barriers that could potentially prohibit/prevent any individual from participating in community life.

The Province of Ontario has developed accessibility standards for all private, public, voluntary and not-for-profit organizations. To review the legislation and information about the standards, please visit one of the following sites:

Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

The Council has developed a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan which establishes, implements, maintains and documents the phased-in strategy to prevent and remove barriers as well as address current and future requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Accessible Websites and Web Content

The Township will ensure that the official municipal website and web content conforms to the World Wide Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level A, at a minimum, except where meeting this requirement is not practicable.
